Appalling report: Obama might really be dumb enough to release the 'blind sheik'

Or is he?

Rumors that the Obama administration may transfer custody of ‘blind sheik’ Omar Abdel-Rahman to Egypt have been swirling this week, but many dismissed the reports as too unreal to be believed. Until now.

The New York Post reports that “in a stunning goodwill gesture” (read: despicable appeasement) the administration may release the convicted terrorist convicted for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing:

The Egyptian government “asked for his release,” an administration source told The Post — and Rep. Peter King (R-LI) confirmed the request is being considered.

The White House, State Department and Justice Department each issued statements denying any deal is in the works, but, “There’s no way to believe anything they say,” said Andrew McCarthy, the former assistant US attorney who prosecuted Abdel-Rahman. “I believe there may already be a nod-and-wink agreement in place.”

Ladies and gentlemen, the Foreign Policy President™.

Releasing a terrorist prior to the election wouldn’t just be appalling; it would be a wildly stupid political move. Please transmit this information to Morsi:
