The predictably classy Joy Behar needs to drum up ratings for her new Current TV show somehow. Perhaps that’s how she happened upon the Bill Maher formula: Romney hate + Mormon joke = headlines.
Remember, Behar claims to be so tolerant that she wants to do away with the celebration of racial hatred known as Black Friday.
Via Newsbusters, here’s a portion of her interview with Mediaite:
MEDIAITE: He was making fun of the President for wanting to hire more policemen and firemen and teachers saying, you know, “Didn’t he get the message of Wisconsin that we want less government?”
BEHAR: Oh, less government? That is an idiotic statement. Can I just say that?
MEDIAITE: Yes.
BEHAR: I mean, I’d like to see his house burn, one of his millions of houses burning down. Who’s he going to call, the Mormon fire patrol?
File this one under, “Things Only Liberals Are Allowed to Say.”
No level of vitriol is beyond the pale when a conservative is the target. And that’s why a search of Twitter this morning yielded no chest-beating and breathless outrage about Behar’s comments from the Left. So much for “new tone.”
