The Obama campaign debuted its first national ad of the election season during the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night. The ad featured perennial youth favorite Sarah Jessica Parker pimping a dinner at her house with “that guy.”
Obama ad during the MTV Movie Awards: I'm still hip with the kids right?
— Donald Lambert (@dlambert08) June 4, 2012
Hip with the kids? Attaboy! All the kids think that Sarah lady is the cat’s pajamas. Or maybe the bee’s knees. Isn’t that what the kids are saying these days, daddy-o?
The Obama campaign really couldn't find a more generationally-suitable spokesperson than Sarah Jessica Parker for its #MovieAwards ad?

Obama. You go to the effort of airing a commercial during the #MTVAwards and you pick SARAH JESSICA PARKER to be in it? What?
— Emily Spicklemire (@ejspicklemire) June 4, 2012
I'm sorry, but of all the celebrities to be featured in an ad for the Obama campaign during the MTV awards, Sarah Jessica Parker? Seriously?
— Josh Feldman (@feldmaniac) June 4, 2012
"what celebrity should we have do an Obama commercial for MTV?" "how about Sarah Jessica Parker" "BRILLIANT"
— Nick Hall (@Centipede_D) June 4, 2012
But the 2010 winner of the Razzie for Worst Actress tried hard to connect with the youth. She even called the preezy of the United Steezy “that guy.” It’s not slow jamming the news, but that’s hip, right? Right?

Clearly Obama is going for the 12-15 year old girl demographic by airing ads during the MTV Movie Awards. Smart move, chief.

I was watching the movie awards, not the liberal agenda. Obama sees the awards as a way to influence young Americans #movieawards

I love how #Obama is reaching out to all the brainwashed college kids watching the #movieawards – not going to happen.
— Adam Wright (@adambwright) June 4, 2012
So Obama decided to run his first campaign commercial at the MTV movie awards? That doesn't seem desperate! #movieawards

Sarah Jessica Parker is creating a lot of new Republicans tonight with her MTV promos.

Celebrity news site Zap2it suggested the ad was a top contender for most awkward moment of the evening:
What's been the most awkward commercial so far during the MTV Movie Awards pre-show? SJP stomping for Obama? Katy Perry's movie trailer?
— Screener (@screenertv) June 4, 2012
Awkward? Kids today! Get off Sarah Jessica Parker’s lawn!
