Harvard 'regrets' allowing Unabomber Ted Kaczynski to harass victims' families in alumni book

Harvard University’s “Fiftieth Anniversary Report” on the class of 1962 includes space for distinguished alumni to flaunt their accomplishments. So naturally, the school published the Unabomber’s profile touting his eight awards.

Via the Globe and Mail article, the convicted terrorist lists his occupation as “prisoner” and offers this description of his “awards”:

Eight life sentences, issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, 1998

Gee, that’s a real knee-slapper, Harvard. Just hilarious. Oddly, the widow of one of Kaczynski’s victims doesn’t think so.

Susan Mosser, widow of Thomas Mosser, a 50-year-old advertising executive who was killed in December 1994 when a package exploded in the kitchen of their New Jersey home, said, “Kaczynski is a con artist. He’s a serial killer, he’s a murderer. … Everything is a game for him to push people’s buttons.”

Kaczynski’s profile also includes his mailing address just in case you want to be pen pals.

But no worries. The Harvard Alumni Association is totally sorry for the little oopsie.

“While all members of the class who submit entries are included, we regret publishing Kaczynski’s references to his convictions and apologize for any distress that it may have caused others,” the Harvard Alumni Association said in a statement Wednesday evening.

What is it with Harvard University and biographies?
