What a difference a week makes.

Progressives characterized the Tea Party push to replace Dick Lugar with Richard Mourdock as part of a conservative crusade to burn heretics. They decried the wingnut zealots and blamed loony ideological purity tests for destroying the one true hope to ease partisan gridlock. (Not that Lugar managed that in six terms.)

Now it’s Cory Booker tied to the stake for daring to deviate from the president on a single issue. Burn him!
