Mockery of Fauxcahontas' 'Pow Wow Chow' recipes tastes mmm, mmm, good

The Saga of Sacaja-whiner really is the gift that keeps on giving.

This morning the Boston Herald reports that Elizabeth Warren contributed recipes to Pow Wow Chow, the 1984 cookbook edited by her cousin that the Warren campaign cited as evidence of her Native American heritage.  She listed herself as “”Elizabeth Warren, Cherokee” under recipes for savory crab omelet, spicy barbecued beans, and three other completely authentic dishes.

The news stimulated the Twitterverse’s appetite for a heaping plate of  1/32 Cherokee-inspired deliciousness:

“Sitting Bull,” indeed. A Cherokee genealogist told the Boston Herald, “Cherokees don’t even traditionally have powwows.”

I’ve received nothing but rave reviews from my colleagues after whipping up treats from this cookbook in the faculty lounge kitchen. Admirers of Pow Wow Chow may also enjoy Bow Wow Chow, a Indonesian-influenced cookbook from a former professor now in politics.
