Joe Scarborough put out a supposed quote by Sen. Orrin Hatch talking about children’s health care.

Of course, that drew an immediate response and sharp criticism from the Left.

A child needs food. His parents quit their jobs. "Now we have no $ to feed him," the dad says.
Millions of kids sick. Their working parents cant afford insurance. CHIP gets them care. GOP cuts taxes. "Now we have no $ for CHIP" Orrin Hatch says (real)
The logic of selfishness.

Orrin Hatch, who went to law school on financial needs scholarship, thinks poor kids shouldn’t get health care.
Really. https://t.co/CAu77FdoCP

Orrin Hatch claims we don't have enough money to pay for children to have healthcare. CHIP would cost 1% of the GOP tax bill he voted for. https://t.co/6dLskRwR9G

Except that’s not what he was talking about at all.
No. He was not talking about CHIP in that quote. He co-wrote bill to extend funding for it and, if you watch the whole clip, says he will see to it himself that CHIP funding is extended https://t.co/2KAbP3WV17

Joe could not be more dishonest here. Hatch literally said that he liked CHIP, that it's a good program, and that they're going to get it done.
That quote was in the middle talking about those who could help themselves but choose not to.
Shame on you, Joe – you know better. https://t.co/KHOrc51zCw

Scarborough got this one wrong. Not what Hatch said. https://t.co/BJzi5KWh2y

Low blow.
Hatch was talking about welfare spending in GENERAL.
Seconds before he said: “We’re going to do CHIP. There’s no question about it in my mind.”https://t.co/E5J1ukNRRe https://t.co/Bix6JXUkvU

Oh for the love of God. Orrin Hatch did not say he wants to destroy and end CHIP. Watch the damn clip. https://t.co/mbYhS31CaY

This has almost 10K RTs, many from reporters, and is completely false. Scarborough was hardly alone in lying about what Hatch said, but the lack of a link suggests that the dishonesty is intentional. All of these people owe Hatch an apology. https://t.co/8Rg6c08jMy

Let’s not let facts get in the way of a good fake quote.
