In the latest installment of actual fake news, we have “journalist” Ian Bremmer tweeting a quote and attributing it to President Trump (which he has now deleted).

Did Trump actually say that?

is this…real? https://t.co/J7Bu1KYOqq

Nope, Trump never said it, as Bremmer later admitted (and then deleted).

No, the point is that journalists who aspire to have credibility with readers do not tweet out fake quotes from the president of the United States who happens to be traveling internationally.
UPDATE: @ianbremmer has now admitted that he fabricated this viral Trump quote. And yet it is being shared by journalists and congressmen as if it is real. pic.twitter.com/QgNd9DnN8g

Bremmer’s attempt at teaching a lesson about Trump ended up turning into a lesson for Bremmer about Twitter spankings.
It appears @ianbremmer made up a Trump quote, presented it as real, watched as it spread through Twitter, and then, when called on his fabrication, defended himself by saying the quote was 'plausible.' Now, he seems to be enjoying the brouhaha…

Never trust a single thing @ianbremmer says. I made that mistake today. I apologize for it. Good on @JerryDunleavy for sticking it to Bremmer. https://t.co/UtW0aWPdvP

Posting a fake Trump quote portraying it to be real is deservedly backfiring tremendously on Ian Bremmer. https://t.co/5IcqDD6Z9N

Just the height of irresponsibility.

Stop retweeting @ianbremmer. This quote is pure fiction he himself fabricated for retweets. https://t.co/32IoxjJ5ql pic.twitter.com/EexHmazntm

Even Tommy Vietor went after him.
Posting fake quotes is a douchey move.
— Tommy Vietor (@TVietor08) May 26, 2019
In the process of trying to make a point about the president in an extremely irresponsible way, Bremmer ended up making a point about his own profession.
