What an amazing clip.
Jon Stewart absolutely ripped into cable news executives who have refused to sit down for an interview with him for his new show on AppleTV+, “The Problem with Jon Stewart.”
Stewart said, “You’re an industry that relies on transparency and access and Democracy Dies in Darkness. And you’re saying that, locked in a F-ing closet with the lights out and you won’t say it on camera”:
Powerful stuff. Jon Stewart can't get a network news chief to talk about the biz on TV. "You’re an industry that relies on transparency and access and Democracy Dies in Darkness. And you’re saying that, locked in a F-ing closet with the lights out and you won’t say it on camera." pic.twitter.com/x5ZMo6gKGy

He also called out the on-air talent who “who stand outside people’s homes after their child has been murdered! And say ‘Talk to me!'”:
Stewart adds: "These are people who stand outside people’s homes after their child has been murdered! And say ‘Talk to me!’"

Transcript:
“We’re not going to have an interview with somebody who runs a news division, who used to run a news division. So far, it’s been a resounding no, you’re an industry that relies on transparency and action access, and democracy dies in darkness. And you’re saying that locked in a f***ing closet with the lights out and you won’t say it on camera. These are people that stand outside of people’s homes after their child has been murdered and say, talk to me. Come out and tell us how you feel. And they act like you owe them. And then you ask them to just come on and defend their f***ing business model. Have you tried going outside their houses.”

Now, will ANY media reporter follow up on this?
Can @brianstelter discuss this on his Sunday show? Jeff Zucker could have done this interview. Marty Baron could have done this interview, Mr. Democracy Dies in Darkness. https://t.co/wU2gY09nV5
