Meghan McCain lashed out at Sen. Lindsey Graham after he fact-checked a segment in her new book accusing Ivanka and Jared Kushner of crashing her father’s funeral:
Lindsey Graham may consider himself a member of my family, but he is not and hasn’t been for a very long time. He certainly doesn’t speak for me or my life experiences. Full stop. The media should stop treating him like he is an expert on anything McCain related.

But here’s what Graham tweeted really happened:
I personally know Ivanka and Jared’s attendance at Senator McCain’s funeral was coordinated with those in charge and the result of an invitation from a family member.

Like all attendees, they wanted to show their appreciation and respect for Senator McCain’s decades of service to our nation.

Then and now, I very much appreciate Ivanka and Jared wanting to show respect for Senator McCain’s service to our nation.
I found it to be very gracious on their part.

The Washington Post also fact-checked this anecdote: “Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner may not have crashed John McCain’s funeral after all”:
In her book, Meghan McCain writes: “I saw Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner sitting towards the back. As far as I knew, they had not been invited but they showed up anyway. Funeral crashers. It never even crossed my mind that they would come. Why would you go to something like that. It seemed audacious even for them. When I saw them I thought, ‘I hope this is the most uncomfortable moment of your entire life.’”
In an interview with Bravo TV’s Andy Cohen last week, Meghan McCain said that “it was her understanding that the power couple attended the ceremony at the National Cathedral memorial because it was an ‘event they wanted to go to,’” the Daily News‘s Brian Niemietz reports.
And a source close to the Kushners claimed Meghan McCain and her husband, Ben Domenech, had invited Jared and Ivanka to other engagements as well:
“Jared and Ivanka had about as much interest in attending the funeral as they did the half dozen or so dinner invitations that Ben Domenech and Meghan McCain pestered them with after the funeral,” said the source close to Kushner and Ivanka Trump https://t.co/OFlP2Wsg39

More from the Post:
The New York Times reported at the time that Graham “had cleared” the couple’s invitation “with the senator’s widow.” A source close to Jared and Ivanka told us the couple was invited by McCain’s widow, Cindy McCain, via Graham.
Whoops:
What Graham told us earlier this week about McCain accusing Ivanka & Jared of being "funeral crashers" in her new book: “She was upset they were there — I understand that, and she has hard feelings but I know what happened and nobody showed up uninvited." https://t.co/M1Y1eV7eN1 https://t.co/jPBIdadgZz
