It’s come to this. . .
KGO-TV reporter Dion Lim shared this photo sent in from an Asian woman to show how some of the measures some in the San Francisco area are forced to take during this recent wave of anti-Asain violence:
A baseball bat. This is what running errands & shopping looks like for some in San Francisco.
An Asian woman sent me this photo. Hand sanitizer, mask, non-flashy handbag…& a bat.
Citizens should not have to do this in order to feel safe in this city.#StopAsianHate #APIHM pic.twitter.com/FiLWTRudr6

Here’s why people are going to extremes:
The grandson of one of the two women in their 60’s and 80’s— stabbed on Market yesterday gave me permission to share this photo.
She was stabbed in the arm and chest. I learned the other woman was stabbed in the back & has broken bones.

Police did make an arrest in the case:
Patrick Thompson, 54, arrested by @SFPDTenderloin @SFPD in unprovoked stabbing of 85yo grandmother and 2nd Asian woman near 4th & Market. Grandson of the 85yo victim speaks out. 4, 5:20, 6, 7 p.m. @KTVU pic.twitter.com/7mVNApQnEZ

And do you know what works better than a baseball bat, especially if you’re a small woman going up against a much larger man?
If California had “shall issue” concealed carry licenses people wouldn’t have to carry around a bat in self-defense. https://t.co/uBp6Tqw8ag

Oh, and please tell the woman who sent in the photo to add a baseball and glove. Just in case:
Also, if you’re carrying around a bag in your car, might want to throw in a baseball glove and a ball as well. pic.twitter.com/Kar0TSNMQu
