Rep. Hakeem Jeffries claims 'Donald Trump Jr. is now under criminal investigation' in D.C.

In a now mega-viral tweet with over 270,000 likes, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) tweeted last night that the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., “is now under criminal investigation in the District of Columbia”:

He didn’t link to any source to back up his allegation, but we have seen reports that the D.C. attorney general is considering possible charges against a number of speakers at the Save America rally on January 6:

From CNBC:

The District of Columbia’s attorney general said Monday that he is looking at whether to charge Donald Trump Jr., Rudy Giuliani and U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks with inciting the violent invasion of the U.S. Capitol last week by a horde of President Donald Trump’s supporters.

In related news, Jeff Rosen, the new acting U.S. Attorney General, posted a video to YouTube last night warning protesters that “any attempts to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power on January 20th” will not be tolerated:
