Seth Mandel RIPS Media Matters in must-read thread after being accused of 'threaten[ing] violence in retaliation to gun safety proposals'

The Washington Examiner’s Seth Mandel has a must-read thread up right now where he rips Media Matters after they accused him of threatening “threaten[ing] violence in retaliation to gun safety proposals.”

First up, here’s the tweet that Media Matters included in the article titled, “Right-wing media threaten violence in retaliation to gun safety proposals“:

It’s not justifying or threatening an insurrection to predict that govt confiscation of 5 million rifles at the point of a gun is likely to go badly https://t.co/TMVVs4VNm1

And now here’s Seth tearing them a new one:

I see Media Matters accuses me and @StephenGutowski of “threaten[ing] violence in retaliation to gun safety proposals.”

This is a demented thing to lie about, but you have to understand the mentality of ppl whose entire purpose in life is to gun up hate against journalists. pic.twitter.com/Q1ZwEvNVpC

When we had our last active shooter drill, our security officer told us point blank that because we are media we are a target. You get used to building security being tight—you need it when groups like @mmfa are telling angry hordes that we’re a threat to public safety.

The reality of being a journalist in America today is having Media Matters and others spread dangerous lies about you to put a target on your back. For Jewish journalists, even more so.

The main difference if you’re a conservative journalist is that ADL won’t have your back, Stelter and Darcy don’t spring into action, etc. You don’t have the armor leftist journalists have. You just gotta keep going, and not let these groups kill off journalism in America.

Stephen and I aren’t the first and we won’t be the last journalists Media Matters is trying to get hurt or worse. Just keep that in mind the next time there’s a Democratic president and Media Matters once again has White House access.

Good luck getting the media cops at CNN to care about this one.
