Apparently, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s claim that we only have 12 years to save the planet from climate change is wrong. According to this article shared by actor and activist Mark Ruffalo, we only have 18 months:
There’s no time to waste. We must treat #ClimateChange like the emergency that it is. https://t.co/7djvQXnwoe

From the BBC:
“The climate math is brutally clear: While the world can’t be healed within the next few years, it may be fatally wounded by negligence until 2020,” said Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, founder and now director emeritus of the Potsdam Climate Institute.
The sense that the end of next year is the last chance saloon for climate change is becoming clearer all the time.
Flashback: In 2006, Al Gore said we only had 10 years to act. At what point to climate activists realize how much harm their alarmist BS has done to actually get people to care?
In 2006, Al Gore warned that unless drastic measures were taken “within the next 10 years,” the world would “reach a point of no return.” That would place “the point of no return” in 2016. https://t.co/JohGit5UDD

And when even AOC isn’t a big enough alarmist for you, watch out!
For some reason GOP seems to think this is a gaffe, but it’s actually a generational difference.
Young people understand that climate change is an existential threat: 3,000 Americans died in Hurricane María.
