Patricia Arquette just discovered the 'Open Skies' treaty and SHE'S NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT

Guys, actress Patricia Arquette just discovered the U.S. is a signatory to the “Open Skies” treaty and she’s not happy about it one bit:

Yoo-hoo turns out Russia spy planes are flying around taking pictures of US military bases now because of a Bush treaty. True story.

Maybe George H.W. Bush is part of the Russian collusion, too?

You would think that Russia attacking us and our voting systems in a mass cyber warfare campaign would put a stop to this- https://t.co/i0XL9bn8VA

Open skies treaty

Former State Department official Alexandra Bell kindly explained what’s really going on to the Oscar winner:

Hey @PattyArquette – loved you in True Romance! The Open Skies Treaty is actually an Eisenhower concept that was put into place by the George H.W. Bush Administration. It allows all 34 parties to take aerial photos for the purposes of transparency and confidence-building. https://t.co/tLhjApWile

And:

The US gets to fly all over Russia taking pictures, too. All the pics taken by any country are shared with all the treaty parties. We've got a lot of problems in the US-Russia relationship, but Open Skies ain't one. In fact, the transparency it provides is a stabilizing force.

Arquette, however, says she already knows about it and still doesn’t think it makes sense:

Here's a primer on the treaty: https://t.co/MaHu0avwSn

Yes I understand what it is. I just don’t think now is a good time for this.

LOL. Bring back the Cold War to own the Trump supporters?

Dangerous times are exactly when we need international treaties like this. The information gained from the Treaty helps to make sure parties are not planning forces based on misunderstandings or assumptions.

There are no tricks here. We are on the plane with the Russians when they conduct fly-overs. Also, keep in mind that Open Skies is also allowing us and our allies to monitor forces in and around Ukraine. https://t.co/87S8HeJHk5
