RATIO ALERT!
The Washington Examiner’s Seth Mandel thinks it looks like “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett “royally messed up” and he shouldn’t go to prison for this “cry for help”:
Jussie Smollett royally messed up, in what’s beginning to look more like a cry for help than anything else. I don’t see how sending him to prison accomplishes that so I hope it doesn’t reach that point.

Or maybe not:
Disagree. If you waste police time and taxpayer dollars on your self-centered attempt to stoke radical political tension and undercut the suffering of real hate crime victims in the process, you should do jail time. https://t.co/AS1vh3rikv

Not only that, but reports suggested he was willing to testify against people, if he did indeed set this up himself, he knew to be innocent:
Nah bro. He was willing to 'testify' against people he knew to be innocent and attempt to send them to jail, only demurring when he realized, to his chagrin, that CPD had actually caught his fellow conspirators. Mental illness or not, that's wanton cruelty. https://t.co/hPZRbG3kbB

There really do need to be consequences for this:
Jussie Smollett likely:
-Committed multiple crimes
-Wasted taxpayer resources
-Lied to authorities and the public
-Sought to worsen race relations
-Risked creating a situation where there could have been retaliatory attacks on Trump supportersSeth Mandel: Poor guy, no prison! https://t.co/fBKD1Oxtbw

And it was so epically bad that even Seth’s wife, Bethany, felt the need to drag him over it:
He was cool with multiple people going to prison for his mistakes. Nope. https://t.co/thedwom65c
— Bethany S. Mandel (@bethanyshondark) February 20, 2019
What’s even funnier is that she didn’t even see how bad his take was received at first but doubled-down when she did find out:
And now Bethany is nuking people who agreed with her husband:
He's right tho

Nope. Smollett is a sociopath.
— Bethany S. Mandel (@bethanyshondark) February 20, 2019
And jail doesn't fix that. It's a crime against our purpose in the world.
— Mordechai ?RiseUp: Challah Bake 2/28?? ?stone (@Mottel) February 20, 2019
So maybe prison should just not exist? It is a consequence for people who committed crimes. Which Smollett appears to have done several times over.

And as much as we agree with this, it is funny when the wife adds to the ratio, that’s for sure:
BTW I think I disagree with Seth, but the pile-on is ridiculous. I'd probably want to jail the guy. If there is no penalty for fake reporting and currency in victimization, the system is out of balance.
