DOUBLE STANDARD WATCH: LeBron James apologizes for 'Jewish money' Instagram post, thought it was a 'compliment'

No big deal, just LeBron James captioning a story on Instagram with anti-Semitic lyrics from hip-hop artist 21 Savage, “We been getting that Jewish money, Everything is Kosher”:

“Is this offensive?” people asked…

Well, duh:

James has since apologized, saying he thought it was a compliment. From ESPN:

“Apologies, for sure, if I offended anyone,” James told ESPN following the Los Angeles Lakers‘ 107-99 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. “That’s not why I chose to share that lyric. I always [post lyrics]. That’s what I do. I ride in my car, I listen to great music and that was the byproduct of it. So, I actually thought it was a compliment and obviously it wasn’t through the lens of a lot of people. My apologies. It definitely was not the intent, obviously, to hurt anybody.”

But the point here is that, in the past, others have been metaphorically crucified on social media for quoting offensive rap lyrics. Why doesn’t LeBron’s post generate the same outrage?
