Democrats love to bash Donald Trump when he treats the media badly, but when it’s one of their own? Crickets.
Jillian Jorgensen, NY Daily News, reports that a member of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s NYPD security detail physically blocked her and other reporters from asking him a question as he exited City Hall:
A member of the mayor’s detail just physically blocked me, @gracerauh & @Rich_Calder from exiting the door in pursuit of the mayor as he left City Hall. Not sure what on earth the justification for that would be, as it is not the NYPD’s job to save the mayor from press coverage.

The moment was caught on video:

Reporters had been trying to determine the fate of Joe Espito, the city’s emergency management commissioner, who may or may not have been fired over his response to the snowstorm that struck NYC in November:
Source tells me that right now even Joe Esposito doesn’t know if Joe Esposito has been fired, despite today’s meeting with the mayor.

This is kind of an amazing episode. NYC's emergency management commissioner was apparently fired by de Blasio's deputy while the mayor was politicking with Bernie Sanders in Vermont. The commissioner says he hasn't talked to the mayor and isn't sure if he's really fired. Day 4! https://t.co/C7Fiiu4Ags

It was a real clown show with Esposito getting fired by a deputy mayor but nobody acknowledging if the firing was legit or not:
Tripleplay! De Blasio was out of town on vacation when OEM boss Joseph Esposito was "fired" yesterday for his role in the snowstorm last month, when he was out of town on vacation, by Deputy Mayor Laura Anglin—who was also out on vacation during the snow. https://t.co/H7D8JOD3R2 pic.twitter.com/cVCaahVLj0

Earlier in the day, de Blasio avoided questions at the gym:
“Mr. de Blasio didn’t answer a question about Mr. Esposito’s firing as he went to the Park Slope Y Monday morning.” https://t.co/2Tji7HqDKd

It was “Veep” episode which the mayor made worse when he blocked the reporters:
I might have to write a spec script for Veep based on today.
SELENA: What the [expletive] is the FEMA head doing here after you fired him?
AMY: He just showed up and prepared for a hurricane like it never happened!
SELENA: But I had you FIRE him.
AMY: I did. But it didn’t take!— Jillian Jorgensen (@Jill_Jorgensen) December 4, 2018
MIKE: The good news is the press has already moved on.
SELENA: Thank god.
MIKE: The bad news is they’ve moved on to your security detail physically blocking them from leaving the building to ask questions.
SELENA: Motherf—— Jillian Jorgensen (@Jill_Jorgensen) December 4, 2018
And after all that, the mayor’s office announced that Esposito will leave his post, but only after someone new is identified. Oh, and Esposito will stay in the administration:
Tired: You’re fired
Wired: You’re un-fired for today

But there was one last totally pro-journalism aspect of this…
The announcement came too late for the morning papers:
Oh and of course, resolving everything too late for most print deadlines.

So tell us again how it’s Trump that’s the enemy of the press?
