Which is smart. The responders should put the lives of people first. But we also think reporters should follow that advice and not put themselves at risk covering hurricanes and, you know, wildfires.

He was being careful, he says:

If you really need to be in close proximity to fire, at least don appropriate personal protective equipment. Start with head, neck and eye protection. Might even consider a fire shelter (w/training).
