Carver County (MN) prosecutor Mark Metz just gave a new conference where he updated the public on the death of singer/songwriter Prince, who died in 2016 from a fentanyl overdose.
According to Metz, investigators can find no evidence that Prince had a prescription for either Vicodin or fentanyl and no criminal charges will be filed against any doctor. He went on to say it’s likely Prince tooked a counterfeit Vicodin prescription that was laced with fentanyl and that’s what caused his death:

Update on the investigation into Prince's death: Prince thought he was taking Vicodin, but was actually taking counterfeit pills containing fentanyl. Doctor's not at fault. Investigators unable to find out who he got it from, so no criminal charges have been filed. @FOX2News

Although he did also say no pills were ever tested so we won’t know for sure (Note: there’s a typo in the tweet. Metz says “Watson 853” in the presser, not “Watson 383”):
OFFICIALS ON PRINCE: “No pills were tested by chemical analysis but the evidence suggests that it is likely that he took a counterfeit Vicodin pill with the Watson 383 imprint on it.” https://t.co/29hvPfhXQn pic.twitter.com/xve0eJlov4
