Well, this was embarrassing.
Apparently the big “Washington-related stunt” we told you about earlier was Sean Spicer coming on stage with a podium to discuss the size of the Emmy audience:

But the Washington Post’s Josh Rogin tweeted what we’re all thinking: Hollywood was laughing at you Sean, not with you:
Spicer thinks they are laughing with him, but they are laughing at him. #emmys

Exactly. For example:
anyway fuck sean spicer and his dumb whoopee cushion face

The Sean Spicer gag was not funny. It changes nothing.

So, the 'joke' of bringing Spicer out at the Emmys was that he consistently lied from the podium?

Sean Spicer lied to the American peop and peddled racist bullshit on behalf of the POTUS nearly daily and got a bit at the #Emmys…
— Phillip Henry (@MajorPhilebrity) September 18, 2017
Saying you like Sean Spicer after one joke, and after all the havoc he has caused…you deserve to be smacked silly #Emmys

And eventually this will backfire and Colbert and company:
everyone who had a hand in bringing spicer on stage should be deeply, profoundly embarrassed

I'm on the subway heading to dinner with a friend but I must say:fuck US media and the way it normalizes vile people like Sean Spicer #Emmys
