Canadian sniper sets world record after killing ISIS terrorist from over 2 miles away

We’re not sure this graphic from The Sun accurately portrays the path of the bullet, but nevertheless it’s quite a shot:

Canada won’t release the name of the hero sniper, but they did say the shot disrupted an attack on the Iraqi military. From The Sun:

A military source told the Globe and Mail: “The shot in question actually disrupted a Daesh [Islamic State] attack on Iraqi security forces.

“Instead of dropping a bomb that could potentially kill civilians in the area, it is a very precise application of force and because it was so far way, the bad guys didn’t have a clue what was happening.”

And keep in mind that the distance isn’t an estimate:

The kill was independently verified by video camera and other data, according to the Canadian press.

Another military source added: “Hard data on this. It isn’t an opinion. It isn’t an approximation. There is a second location with eyes on with all the right equipment to capture exactly what the shot was.

“This is an incredible feat. It is a world record that might never be equalled.”

Well done.

The rifle used by the Canadian sniper was reportedly a McMillan TAC-50 sniper rifle, billed on the company’s website as a “best-of-breed tactical rifle for the professional marksman”:

And here’s a video of a similar rifle in action:
