EMBARRASSING: WaPost forced to add editor's note to its big 'fake news' story

The @washingtonpost article on Fake News – mindlessly spread and endorsed by countless journalists – itself contained Fake News… https://t.co/eloy3cw7ox

Remember that big story in the Washington Post a few weeks back exposing “fake news” outlets? Yeah … there was major criticism of it when it first came out and now the WaPost editors have added a note to the beginning of the article that basically calls into question the entire article:

Washington Post added editor's note to top of "Russian propaganda" story after being called out for shoddy reportinghttps://t.co/dWKbZJGS9a pic.twitter.com/skGiZUX2Ls

Here it is:

And this isn’t going over real well:

what a bunch of cowards. "This blacklist that served as the entire news basis of our piece is bullshit but we wont retract the story" https://t.co/V5ZSwSMgTg

tjhe PropOrNot list was 90% of the story. The major takeaways, "213m ppl reached by fake Russian news", SuperPAC for Trump" –ALL PropOrNot

whats most disturbing isnt that WaPo boosted a fraudulent "fake news" blacklist its that so many nominal liberals enthusiastically shared it

Here’s what the new headline should say, but doesn’t:

The Post's line that they used four groups for their story is bullshit. The only one that was new (thus making it *news*) was PropOrNot

Here’s an example of a high-profile lib who shared the now discredited story:

Wake up, indeed.
