Earlier today a uniformed officer with the U.S. Secret Service shot and wounded an armed man after he approached a checkpoint and refused to drop his gun.
In official statement, @SecretService says agent fired 1 shot at man with gun who failed to comply with commands to stop & drop the firearm.

The White House was on lockdown after the incident and President Obama was informed of the shooting while he was doing what he does best:
