This photo was posted to Twitter this morning by Lisa Farbstein, Public Affairs spokesperson for the TSA. According Ms. Farbstein, the passenger declared “it’s art” and TSA agents allowed it on the plane after determining it was safe:

What. The. Hell.
This was allowed on an airplane? Imagine if the “art” had been left behind on the airplane and found later by a new flight crew. What does the TSA think would have happened? At a minimum, the plane would have been evacuated, hundreds of passengers would have been inconvenienced and local and federal resources would have been wasted to determine a second time that it wasn’t a threat.
Remember this photo the next time you travel and the TSA makes you take off your flip-flops to go through security.
