WHOOPS! CNN misidentifies mayor of Cologne, Germany as a man

As we told you a short while ago, Henriette Reker, the mayor of Cologne, Germany, is getting trashed this week after suggesting women should adopt a “code of conduct” to avoid getting raped, including the ludicrous idea that they maintain “an arm’s length distance from strangers.”

But notice how CNN identified the victim-blaming Ms. Reker:

The mayor of Cologne, Germany is under fire for his advice to avoid sexual assault https://t.co/uv1RiUY66r pic.twitter.com/ZzMzAGsl3g

Whoops.

It took them an hour to realize their mistake:

@CNN Correction: The mayor is a female.

Did the person writing the tweet for CNN just assume it was a man?

@CNN The mayor is a female. You missed the irony of a female telling women to act like they are under the Taliban.
