Potential Logan Act violation in progress as Hillary Clinton backs Nancy Pelosi on trade over Pres. Obama

Hillary Clinton finally weighed in on the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade deal during a campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa and it’s not what President Obama wanted to hear:

Oof.

We’re so old we remember when Dems called opposing the president as he negotiated an international agreement was called treason. Where are the Logan Act scholars now? Or maybe this means Hillary is a racist:

Probably.

Anyway, Hillary not only supports Nancy Pelosi in the little intra-party skirmish, but she went as far as to say that she’d be a tougher negotiator than President Obama.

From CNN:

Hillary Clinton backed House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi’s resistance to President Barack Obama’s free trade agenda on Sunday, saying the intra-party resistance could strengthen U.S. trade negotiators’ hands in talks with other countries.

But she stopped short of offering an outright yes-or-no answer on her position on the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership, which the Obama administration is still negotiating, or a bill that would guarantee that pact a vote in Congress.

“There are some specifics in there that could and should be changed. So I am hoping that’s what happens now — let’s take the lemons and turn it into lemonade,” Clinton said.

She also implied she’d drive a harder bargain with countries like Japan, Australia, Canada and Mexico than Obama’s administration has.

“No president would be a tougher negotiator on behalf of American workers, either with our trade partners or Republicans on Capitol Hill, than I would be,” Clinton said.

After President Obama’s last-minute outreach to House Dems on Friday failed to win passage of fast track authority, crucial to passing TPP, Obama was being called not only a lame duck, but a “dead duck”:

Now with Hillary openly supporting Pelosi over the president, it’s has to be official, right?

Verdict: Dead duck.
