The Dallas Cowboys lost to the San Francisco 49ers in today’s Wild Card game in a truly bizarre fashion as time expired before the ref could place the ball on the line of scrimmage, thanks in part to Dallas QB Dak Prescott handing the ball to his center after the previous play.
Have a watch:
Dak Prescott ran a QB draw with 14 seconds left and handed the ball to the center, who placed the ball himself.
However, the ref is supposed to spot the ball.
The move cost Dallas a chance at a game-winning play. The 49ers advance.

Who called that play? LOL:
Help me decide what's more egregious:
1. 49ers botched QB sneak
2. Cowboys running a QB draw w/ 14 seconds left, no TO
3. 49ers 2 minute defense
4. Dak in 'pressure bust pipes' mode forgetting to have the ref spot the ball before the snap
5. Game-wide situational unawareness— Courtney Cronin (@CourtneyRCronin) January 17, 2022
What a dumb way to end the game:

And the streak continues:
The Cowboys have now gone 11 straight playoff appearances without reaching a conference championship game.
That’s the longest streak by any team in NFL history.

It got so bad after the game that Dallas’ own fans pelted Cowboys players as they ran off the field:

#Cowboys fans throwing things at their own players. Got this sent to me by one. Be better fans wow! pic.twitter.com/mlVttbFlpg

And for those saying they were aiming for the refs, that’s not the report we’re getting from the stadium:
For those saying it was directed at refs, that would be equally awful but fan who sent it to me said absolutely at players and they were disgusted by it when I asked… to absolutely make sure that was the case https://t.co/J3WHogtqJF

Oh, well. See you next year:
