Would you believe there’s actually much more going on with this headline than The Hill would have you believe? Shocking, we know:

The “mayor” here is actually the mayor of all of Orange County (how Florida does things) and his name is Jerry Demings:
Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings (D) during a press conference said counties have not received funding from the state for COVID-19 testing and questioned why DeSantis has been largely absent as the omicron variant has quickly become the dominant strain in Florida.
“We have not received any assistance from the state of Florida at our testing sites,” he said.
And Mayor Demings is the husband of Dem Rep. Val Demings, who just happens to be running to unseat Sen. Marco Rubio in 2022:
Said county is also in the most political swing zone of the state. Said mayor of said county is also the husband of Democratic congresswoman from the area who is now running against incumbent 2-term Republican senator.

It’s funny that these Dems keep going after DeSantis when THEIR guy is on the beach with his puppy:

As of this post, all three drive-up testing sites in Orange County are closed on Friday and Saturday. Is this DeSantis’ fault, too?
The three Orange County drive-up testing sites are closed on Dec. 31 and Jan 1. Are they going to blame DeSantis for that, too?https://t.co/AnITxtrDlZ https://t.co/Dey9ZwAk1m

For comparison purposes, Miami-Dade County is running five 24-hour testing sites:

And some sites are open Friday and Saturday:
And, again, at the time of this post, one could make an appointment at walk-up sites and avoid lines altogether:

Why can’t Orange County at least copy what’s being done in Miami-Dade?
Update: absolutely no lines here at @FTXArena. Even if it’s out of your way, if you’re trying to get tested this is a good spot to go tonight. They’re open all night long. @WPLGLocal10 https://t.co/cZVXP16h4T pic.twitter.com/rPvPVtHfQc
