You can’t make this up.
The county of Nottinghamshire in Britain has begun a pilot program aimed to reduce domestic violence through a program that replaces pointy knives with dull ones. From ITV:
Nottinghamshire Police is piloting a scheme where victims of domestic violence will have their kitchen knives replaced with blunt utensils, to help stop partners attacking them in their own home.
Around a hundred “no-point” knives will be given to victims who have either been threatened or attacked with a knife.
It comes as police say they’re concerned about the high numbers of knife-related incidents in the home. They say the new scheme could help save lives.
This could be the dumbest thing we’ve ever read:
Blunt utensils will replace kitchen knives in the homes of victims of domestic violence. It's hoped it will help save lives – what do you think ? https://t.co/Nzzetda9nM pic.twitter.com/837UHM5wxf

Nope, not a joke:
Is this an actual joke??

Imagine being the survivor of domestic violence and the police say, “Hey, try a rounded-tip knife instead of a pointy one. This way your abuser will have to slash you instead of stabbing you”:
Police say “This is a very small scale trial, which we will assess at the end of the year. It is only one small part of the whole range of what is done to safeguard and protect domestic abuse survivors”. More here: https://t.co/Nzzetda9nM pic.twitter.com/M1bLJBLYmN

Let’s just say the early reaction to the program is not positive:
So let me try and get my head around this….
1) these knives still function so can cut, and could ‘slash’ a victim
2) there are still other item eg heavy chopping boards, glass objects which could be used
3) and there’s still the perpetrator’s hands to choke#backtodrawingboard— Laura Vincent (@LauraEVincent) June 12, 2019
When my ex choked me I thought to myself gee I'm glad I'm surrounded be all these blunt objects I'm safe now ?

Literally the same stupid advice I was given when my daughter attempted suicide.
She then went on to use a key, a sharpened stick and then took pills.
Luckily all failed.Deal with the actual problem, not this box ticking, condescending, useless nonsense.

Just sat thru a talk at work with a lady who was beaten with a rolling pin by her partner. So, replacing sharp objects with blunt ones won’t make much difference.

So replace stabbing with what pathologists call blunt force injury. Isn’t that what abusive men use against women anyway? Not knives.

Don’t give them any ideas:
This is utter b*((*cks. My mother beat me up when I lived with her. She used her fists, her feet. She also stabbed me with knives, with forks, with sewing needles, and she burnt me with boiling water and with an iron. Are you going to ban kettles and cookers?

Will they also issue blunts irons, blunt chairs, blunt fists, blunt feet, blunt hammers, blunt bottles, blunt kettles, blunt saucepans, blunt vacuum cleaners, blunt tea towles for strangulation, blunt toasters or perhaps guns without bullets?
