Wow. Wow. Wow.
According to Rob Elgas of ABC 7 in Chicago, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was not told that charges were being dropped against actor Jussie Smollett:
NEW: Chicago police tell our @SchulteABC7 that superintendent Eddie Johnson was not told about Smollett charges being dropped today. Johnson learned about it while at a scheduled police graduation at Navy Pier.

And Rafer Weigel from local Fox 32 reports that cops are “furious” at State Attorney Kim Foxx’s decision:
I can tell you that @Chicago_Police are furious over SA Kim Foxx’s decision to drop all charges against #JussieSmollett

Reminder: This is the same Kim Foxx who recused herself in the case:
Even if you believe all of this, Foxx recused herself over apparent conflicts of interest, prompting CPD demands for a federal probe into her. For her to effectively un-recuse and make this call (blindsiding cops) isn’t going to tamp down the corruption angle. https://t.co/ZQtEFk95Pt

We have questions:
Foxx recused herself from the case. How can she drop the charges? https://t.co/4iWNTogTN3

The police and the SAO are already at each other’s throats:

So this will certainly make things more interesting:

“Open war” has been declared:
The prosecutor's office, which is now in open war with the Chicago Police Department, acted as judge, jury and executioner in the case. https://t.co/Dv8TSlMtzm

And let’s not forget the feds are still investigating Smollett, so this is far from over:
What was also noteworthy about this news conference with Chicago police was that Johnson also said Smollett was responsible for the threat letter sent to Fox studios in Chicago. That’s an FBI case still on going. https://t.co/Ii6DCbmCTF
