With one week to go until the election, Rep. Steve Stivers unloading on colleague Rep. Steve King, tweeting that his “recent comments, actions, and retweets are completely inappropriate” and that we “must stand up against white supremacy and hate in all forms”:
Congressman Steve King’s recent comments, actions, and retweets are completely inappropriate. We must stand up against white supremacy and hate in all forms, and I strongly condemn this behavior.

Keep in mind, Stivers, who just “strongly” condemned King, is also the chair of the National Republican Campaign Committee, which is in charge of getting Republicans elected to the House:
Hugely significant from the campaign chairman of a party that has long looked past Steve King's extreme views and associations. https://t.co/mt6wLPoh0O

.@NRCC Chairman vowed on Sunday shows he would tone down rhetoric and call out hate speech. Here he condemns GOP colleague @SteveKingIA https://t.co/LKtS9vTiaz

King, remember, was a co-chair of the 2016 Ted Cruz campaign:
Finally important context is that King is not a backbencher or gadfly. He’s a huge state figure with a subcommittee chairmanship who presidential candidates line up to court. He chaired the 2016 Ted Cruz campaign. https://t.co/DfRlbyENwU

This slam comes on the same day that a new poll has King only up by 1 in his race:
IA-04 (n=631)
J.D. Scholten @Scholten4Iowa (D) 44
Steve King (R) 45Movement: 26 points to D (was Trump+27)
Trump won IA-04 by 27 points in 2016; King won by 23 points.
Trump opinion is divided (51% fav, 46% unfav); opinion toward King is quite negative (38% fav, 48% unfav).

And the Cook Political Report has moved his race from “Likely R” to “Lean R”:
New at @CookPolitical: #IA04 Rep. Steve King (R) moves from Likely R to Lean R. This is the first serious challenge he's faced in his R+11 CD since '12, except this time he's almost broke & not running a real campaign.
