MSNBC’s Chris Hayes asked last night on Twitter where President Donald Trump got the authority to order a $12 billion welfare payment to farmers to offset damage from his tariffs:
Not to be *too* much of a stickler for, like, the constitution and appropriations and such, but where is the $12 billion for the "farmers" coming from?
— Chris Hayes (@chrislhayes) July 24, 2018
And here’s the answer:
Good call. How did a govt program that would allow the POTUS to issue a bailout worth billions without direct Congressional action ever get legalized???

FDR’s New Deal? BAD! Also, when did Hayes, et al. actually worry about executive overreach?
LOL.
Hayes was missing in action as Obama wrote EO after EO increasing spending on the Affordable Care Act.
Now you are worried about proper appropriations?

Certainly not when then President Obama was using such powers:
It’s authorized by the Commodity Credit Corporation Charter Act. The policy is stupid, but it’s constitutional.
Highly curious if you had the same reverence for the Appropriations Clause when Obama unilaterally created unconstitutional ObamaCare subsidies, though. https://t.co/ivcmdoJn8f

Some of the Hollywood anti-Trump celebrities don’t seem to get what’s going on. Would they be for it if they new FDR was behind it?
