In a now-viral tweet, Twitter user “Channnn” posted photos of a white guy “with a confederate flag tattoo, wearing a confederate flag t-shirt, with confederate flag car stickers,” stop to help her father change a tire. Check it out:
So my dads tire blew up on the freeway and this dude, with a confederate flag tattoo, wearing a confederate flag t-shirt, with confederate flag car stickers, stopped and changed our tire. My mind is blown, don’t judge a book by its cover y’all ??♀️ pic.twitter.com/CEjcDcjbSo

But to Twitchy regular Tariq Nasheed, this is an example of how “white supremacy works”:
This here is why Black parents should teach their children about how white supremacy works at a young age. Just because a SWS does a good deed for an INDIVIDUAL Black person, that doesn't mean he is not going to stop maintaining SYSTEMATIC white supremacy https://t.co/fjiBbXOQQq

Unfortunately, Nasheed was not the only one to go after Channnn over the photos. She later expanded on the incident, and quite honestly, makes Nasheed and the other haters look foolish:
Okay guys!! Let’s add a conclusion. I am 17, don’t consider myself liberal or conservative. I know how to think for myself and no, even after all this I don’t believe in flying or wearing the confederate flag or the virgina battle flag (as I was eloquently educated about )

I don’t believe in “it’s just history” or “heritage not hate” because the flag was used during the civil war on the side of the confederacy. For me and my family, as a black person, the confederate army = oppression. Therefore the flag as a symbol utilized = oppression.

To me, if you the support the confederate flag ( or Virginian battle flag) you refuse to recognize or validate my opinion or how it makes me feel or than the flag when used in a battle on the confederate side the intended use was perverted.

What I’ve learned though is not everyone sees it that way. Y’all associate the flag with different sentiments, not necessarily racist ones. Cody is a great guy and my dad and I are grateful for his help. Do I agree with his flag supporting? No. Is he a nice guy? Yep ??
