We — and everyone else — has been mocking UK police accounts for weeks now over their weapon sweep brags on Twitter, which is probably why this old tweet from 2014 by the Harrow Borough Police is being shared again today.
Behold, one of the stupidest tweets we’ve ever seen from a verified account:
Weapon Sweep in #Wealdstone by the Proactive team part of #CommunityActionDay pic.twitter.com/w7czu5b9Zt

Yes, that’s a toy gun and what appears to be a croquet mallet:
That is a croquet mallet and a toy gun. https://t.co/TQLQXwxTZB

Some of the 2018 reaction:
IT EVEN HAS THE ORANGE TIP ON. https://t.co/YL3kHVzotj

A toy gun and a croquet mallet are now seen as weapons. Where has the world gone to? Oh wait, it's UK, never mind. https://t.co/zKIr5aN1vy

Now, we can’t say they’ve progressed much in 3+years. In January, Twitter user @DizzyCab mocked the police during one of their weapons searches:
Conducted a weapons sweep of West Harrow Rec today with help of @MPSHeadstoneNth and @MPSHeadstoneSth nothing notable found. pic.twitter.com/r5hnecoNH9

Dizzy… Take a look at this recent tweet by our colleagues at Marlborough.
Large knife found following a weapon sweep in Wealdstone.
Not so much a waste of time this one. #SavingLives #StopKnifeCrime https://t.co/uvVIhnRE9W— Harrow MPS (@MPSHarrow) January 17, 2018

And the toy cops responded with this link to the confiscation of a 10 cm knife (about 4 inches in the real world):

What a joke.
Editor’s note: We’ve corrected a typo in the headline.
