Actor Matthew Modine got into a fight with @DuffelBlog over R. Lee Ermey and it's EPIC

Actor Matthew Modine got into a Twitter fight on Tuesday with Duffel Blog, the satirical new site that covers the military.

At issue was this article on Vincent D’onofrio, who starred in the film “Full Metal Jacket” alongside R. Lee Ermey, who passed away on Sunday. In the film, D’onofrio’s character is the target of Ermey’s character, Gunnery Sgt. Hartman, and the article joked that ever since Ermey’s death, D’onofrio was finally able to get a good night’s sleep:

And this angered Modine, who starred in the film as well. He accused Duffel Blog of spreading “fake news bulls*it“:

According to Modine, he was responding to a reader who thought the piece was real and was worried about D’onofrio’s mental health:

Duffel Blog fired back, accusing Modine — who played Private Joker in the film — of not being able to take a joke:

And that led to this back-and-forth:

Modine even went after the piece’s author, Army veteran Addison Blu:

What a clown, but Duffel Blog had the last laugh:

Perfect.

And as for D’onofrio, he posted this nice tribute to Ermey, calling him “the real deal”:
