As we told you a few days ago, the official account for the Women’s March came out in support of Backpage.com, calling the government’s actions against the website “an absolute crisis for sex workers”:
. The shutting down of #Backpage is an absolute crisis for sex workers who rely on the site to safely get in touch with clients. Sex workers rights are women’s rights. Follow @SafeSpacesDC @melissagira @swopusa @KateDAdamo @supporthosechi @anaorsomething for more info. https://t.co/S3Orx3aM8Z

Keep in mind, this support was after the arrest of Backpage.com founder Michael Lacey on a 93-count federal indictment:
Attorney for Michael Lacey confirmed that the https://t.co/aBkeUOOTSE co-founder has been charged as part of a 93-count federal indictment. Feds raided his Sedona home earlier today. Updated story here: https://t.co/zyjKFbcCQP @ruelaswritings and moi

Twitchy favorite Jenna Jameson then jumped in, calling Backpage “utter filth” that’s “used to buy and sell children into slavery” and asking, “How on earth are you supporting it?”
Backpage is utter filth and is used to buy and sell children into slavery. How on earth are you supporting it? I’m sure “sex workers” can figure out a new way to contact their “johns” ??♀️??♀️??♀️ https://t.co/P03ms3BZoV

She does have experience in this industry…
You were a sexworker. Why the hatred ?

…so maybe we should listen to Jenna?
Because as a former “sex worker” I don’t support child trafficking. https://t.co/FY1BhhvZH6

And regardless of how you feed about sex workers, we should wait for the investigation to play out before holding up Backpage as some champion of women’s rights:
The internal emails of backpage employees are damning. There CAN be positives (women are smart and resourceful) to having a means of communicating/vetting/etc… But it seems from this particle group of humans, there was only $$$ and police evasion on their minds.
