New James Bond film has a title: 'SPECTRE.' But no 'Blofeld'? And 'pedestrian' Bond girls? [photos]

Director Sam Mendes just finished up a live event in the U.K. announcing the cast and title of the 24th film in the Jame Bond franchise.

Tweeters, meet “SPECTRE”:

SPECTRE, a recurring Bond foe from the books and movies, stands for the “SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion” and is led by the super-villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

Here are some highlights of the cast.

Daniel Craig is back as Bond, of course:

There is some question, however, on the actual identity of Christoph Waltz’s character, Oberhauser:

It was rumored that Waltz would play Blofeld, but the information provided today says he is Bond’s skiing instructor. A ruse maybe?

And the two new “Bond Girls”:

Some are commenting that the names aren’t very Bond-like and we don’t know if they are friend or foe to Bond:

WWE wrestler turned UFC fighter turned actor Dave Bautista, one of the stars of Marvel’s hit “Guardians of the Galaxy,” has been cast as a henchman of sorts named Mr. Hix:

And now for the car, an Aston Martin DB10:

Sweet.

Filming begins Monday, with at release date set for November 6, 2015 in the U.S.
