I, like many observers on the right, have been enjoying the weeping and gnashing of teeth over Disney ABC's decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel's late-night non-comedy show.
The absolute meltdown by Democrats who claim to believe that free speech in America has suddenly ended because Kimmel got the hook has been glorious.
It has also been equally surreal and disgusting when I step back and consider the message the American political Left delivered over the past week.
The response to Kimmel getting suspended is unreal. If I didn't know better, I would think he was the one assassinated.

While the Right continues to grieve not just the man, Charlie Kirk, but also the premise that conservative thinkers could freely express their ideas in the public sphere without being gunned down in cold blood, the Left seemingly didn't find good reason to mourn until ABC's late-night money sinkhole got the boot.
So, are all the MAGA shidiots in my replies telling me that I was personally “responsible” for one of their own assassinating Charlie Kirk gonna delete their accounts now or nah?
— Jo (@JoJoFromJerz) September 12, 2025
They spent the initial days following the murder piecing together shaky 'evidence' that the killer was actually a conservative Christian, a MAGA guy, a 'Groyper', or some combination thereof.
They were absolutely convinced of it.
Jimmy Kimmel was, no doubt, consuming a steady diet of left-wing wishcasting when he walked onto the stage of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and said the words that caused his demise:
We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.
It was a setup to a 'joke' about how President Trump really wasn't all that upset about Kirk's death. Real funny stuff.
Cue up the next round of Democrat gaslighting.
I’ve listened to this clip and read the transcript several times, along with MAGA’s interpretation of it. And honestly, their spin just feels wrong. Kimmel wasn’t saying the shooter was MAGA. What he was pointing out is that MAGA’s first instinct wasn’t to seek truth or… https://t.co/xYuS5SVrP8

They immediately switched gears to explain to us that the words we can read ourselves, that you and I both watched Kimmel say on video, don't actually mean what any reasonable person would conclude.
It was the Democrats who were 'desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them'.
Piers, we all know you're an idiot, but even you know that's not what Kimmel said. So the other options are: you're a liar, or you need a checkup. I'm hoping you're just a liar. Again. https://t.co/EkLWXfqFZH
— Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann) September 18, 2025
I get that Olbermann's brain is an egg shy of a three-egg omelette at this point, but it's hard to believe he can't read the English language.
The obvious meaning is that the killer was one of them (MAGA) and they were 'desperate' to show otherwise.
I mean, come on. I'm used to them lying, but this particular lie must be one of those 'new lows' Kimmel was talking about.
Things feel very dark in America this morning. Very, very dark.
— Jo (@JoJoFromJerz) September 18, 2025
Jimmy Kimmel is what it took for them to feel like we're living in a dark time. Not a political assassination on a college campus.
Before we've even held a funeral for Charlie Kirk, the Democrats began mourning the 'death of free speech', as embodied by Jimmy Kimmel's late-night slot.
This commentary offers a clear, powerful statement of why freedom of speech is at the heart of democracy and must be defended, whether the speaker is Charlie Kirk or Jimmy Kimmel, MAGA supporters or MAGA opponents.

Leave it to Barack Obama to conflate a man's murder with a political hack posing as a comedian losing a TV slot.
Stephen Colbert declares ‘Tonight we are all Jimmy Kimmel’ in solemn show dedicated to canned late night host https://t.co/PGpZXu7dCE pic.twitter.com/9VawHdtnob

Colbert, of course, delivered a eulogy on his soon-to-be-cancelled waste of airtime.
No, Stephen, most of us aren't Jimmy. We're Charlie now, and we're not going to let you claim the mantle of free speech defenders when a guy radicalized by your sick progressive ideas just murdered the guy doing free speech right.
Watching the left, especially the media, go from "well, Charlie Kirk did kind of deserve it because he said some stuff" to total free speech absolutists over the last 24 hours has been a wild ride.

This isn't going away, no matter how you try to usurp the narrative.
One of the hallmarks of authoritarianism is to terrify people into self-censorship. ABC ending Kimmel’s show is the perfect example of this.
— David Pakman (@dpakman) September 17, 2025
If murder to silence the free exercise of speech isn't going to sway them from their 'Orange Man Bad' narrative, nothing will. At least they could have the decency to pause until the family buries the victim.
Burn in hell, Sinclair.

Alongside Charlie Kirk. https://t.co/VjRfmUKXXK
The whining about Jimmy Kimmel is an attempt by the Left to regain control of the narrative and get back to business as usual.
It's not going to happen. Pandora's box has been opened.
Things have changed.
