In the latest installment of white liberal academics finding an excuse to call people racist and various other ‘-ists’, Dr. Jenna Drenten, an associate professor of marketing at Loyola University, is calling out ‘pantry porn’.
Pantry porn, according to the professor, is the recent trend on places like TikTok of showing off one’s well-stocked and well-organized kitchen or pantry. In other words, people showing off something they’re proud of, sort of like all of human history – juiced up like never before on the steroids of social media.

According to professor Drenten:
‘Storing spices in coordinated glass jars and color-coordinating dozens of sprinkles containers may seem trivial. But tidiness is tangled up with status, and messiness is loaded with assumptions about personal responsibility and respectability.
Cleanliness has historically been used as a cultural gatekeeping mechanism to reinforce status distinctions based on a vague understanding of ‘niceness’: nice people, with nice yards, in nice houses, make for nice neighborhoods.
What lies beneath the surface of this anti-messiness, pro-niceness stance is a history of classist, racist and sexist social structures.’

So who are the messy, non-respectable, folks lacking personal responsibility? People of color, apparently.
Academia is the last remaining society-approved bastion of shameless outspoken prejudice.
