We’ve already told you about the ridiculous coverage by The Atlantic and Vanity Fair on the imminent DeSantis campaign announcement on Twitter. Not one to be left out on a race-baiting fearmongering campaign, The Root chimed in with their own spin on the same spin: Be afraid, black folks. Be very afraid.
The piece claims that Ron DeSantis, who is guilty of ‘racist attacks’ and ‘white supremacist rhetoric’, is poised to announce his presidential bid with ‘fellow bigot Elon Musk’.
The Left has completely lost it, folks. It’s like legacy media outlets intercepted a bus enroute to the nuthouse and hired them all on the spot.
Should Black People Be Afraid Now that Ron DeSantis Plans to Announce His Presidential Bid… On Twitter? https://t.co/th1Hp1FZKz pic.twitter.com/fD7juOgsbm
— The Root (@TheRoot) May 23, 2023
What conclusion does Candace McDuffie, writing for The Root, reach at the end?
‘What does this all mean for Black and brown people and LGBT community? The answer? Can’t be good. The GOP is unabashedly the party of white supremacy and hate. DeSantis, like his Republican peers, has no problem expressing his hatred of Black people. The governor has done everything in his power to erase Black history, rescind voting rights and even praised Jordan Neely’s killer. DeSantis in the Oval office is downright dangerous for Black folks. With DeSantis and Trump as frontrunners for the Republican nomination, things keep going from bad to worse.’
Yowza. We’d also be scared of the people they’ve created in their heads.
AFRAID? 🤣🤣🤣 Why?! 🤣

What the hell would we be scared of?????????? https://t.co/s6KrUHWpGh

A lot of black people pushed back on the claim that they should be afraid and tried to cut through the emotionalism.
Afraid of what?

We don’t think you’re going to get a good answer.
We loved the ‘ … on Twitter’ in the headline, like that was the part that really made it scary.
— Black. Conservative. Educator. Independent Thinker (@FavoriteTeach11) May 23, 2023
Yep, it’s like that.
As a Woman of Color, I am very frightened. I’m scared of him on Twitter especially.
— Dr. Jebra Faushay (@JebraFaushay) May 24, 2023
LOL! Nice try, parody account.
You guys are so butter soft.

Right?!
Y’all are dead set on making us look like pitiful victims…. Utterly embarrassing.
— BlackWestchesterite (@newroctheo) May 24, 2023
Thankfully, Twitter provides a way for sane voices to weigh in.
This black person is looking forward to it.
— Corrine; Adult Human Female (@thecoraesthetic) May 24, 2023
We’re sorry, ma’am, Joe Biden is going to have to revoke your black card. LOL.
If you aint afraid then you aint black
— Boldstone Memery (@born2matter) May 24, 2023
Bwahaha!
We’ve gone through too much should be afraid of somebody running for president regardless of their political party. What about us being warriors not wimps
— Marcia L. Dyson (@MarciaLDyson) May 24, 2023
Seriously, black Americans have overcome slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow, and Vanilla Ice. They’re hardly going to be intimidated by a dude from Florida running for president.
Not afraid of Biden who targeted Black people through policies and the Democlown party, who divides the Black community while trying to erase us through immigration?? pic.twitter.com/7GfiorEL5k
— Thee.Mr.Devine (@thee1mrdevine) May 23, 2023
Ouch! That’s getting too real. Cover your ears, Democrats. You can’t handle this truth.
— Laterrius Johnson (@Laterrius) May 24, 2023
Great gif usage. Some of us can’t use this one without committing ‘digital blackface’.
— Shaughn_A (@Shaughn_A2) May 24, 2023
LOLOLOL!
The best part about this tweet is seeing all of the black people who comment realize how silly this @TheRoot article is. A black news site treats black just like white Democrats like we are ignorant.
— Shun Smith, The Last Sane American (@themediamessngr) May 24, 2023
Looks like people don’t like being manipulated. We hope you folks at The Root get the message.
They weren’t afraid when they voted for Biden, & they should’ve been, so no fear!
— Rosalyne (@Rosalyn94802033) May 24, 2023
Did The Root warn black folks that Biden was going make everything more expensive?
The family budget is a lot more meaningful to real people than fake bogeymen.
Absolutely not. I'm more scared of these Democrats who keep sh!tting on Black people.
— Conservative Caridad (@rightcaridad) May 24, 2023
Preach!
I'm so terrified. https://t.co/93ZJlrCspz

"Afraid"…. I CAN'T STAND YOU PEOPLE https://t.co/WHfp0jGo4a
— TheTrippyLiberty (@TrippyLiberty) May 24, 2023
Hey, what do you mean by ‘you people’?!
Just kidding.
The Root has become The View of online publications. Sad. https://t.co/wJjFIvtppH
— Delano Squires (@DelanoSquires) May 24, 2023
Dang! That is perfect.
Maybe blackface Joy Behar could land a gig at The Root.
Aren’t black people tired of being used and falling prey to white liberalism? https://t.co/j1f6eeVc6S
— Drew A. Thomas (@DTedifies) May 23, 2023
We’re pretty sure The Root mostly writes for white liberal women at this point.
As an “Race Traitor” to the hyper-Progressives, that noise is on deaf ears. https://t.co/pByVkOqPlA
— Gregory☢️Van Loan AKA 🥷TMNT🐢 Stan (@gradioactive4) May 23, 2023
‘Hyper-Progressives’. We like it. It’s sort of like ‘ultra-MAGA’ but true.
Next article you'll write will be about how we should be afraid of toilet paper because it's white.
— BlackWestchesterite (@newroctheo) May 24, 2023
Now that’s funny!
You folks over there at The Root need to do better. People aren’t buying it.
