A blue check liberal by the name of Tom Watson shared a photo of Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, and President Biden with the caption ‘DeSantis bends the knee’. We don’t know much about Mr. Watson aside from that he is a self-described writer, professor, and liberal.
The problem is the photo was taken in July when a condominium collapsed in Surfside, Florida, killing 98 people. Biden and DeSantis met, in a move that was widely praised as a good example of bipartisan leadership at the time, to ensure full cooperation in rescue and recovery efforts.
Watson (and others) shared the photo, implying the governor had to kowtow to Biden to ask for hurricane relief in the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Ian.

Twitter reacted harshly to the tweet.

Focus on your own state if you’re not interested in helping the people of Florida.
You are using a photo from a disaster in Miami-Dade County that killed 98 people in 2021.
To politicize a deadly hurricane in SWFL.
My only question is WHY?
— Christina Pushaw 🐊 🇺🇸 (@ChristinaPushaw) October 2, 2022
The ‘why’ is apparently to get a ‘sick burn’ in on Ron DeSantis for leveraging federal assistance to ease the suffering of the people of his state.
Conservatives have always been proponents of smaller government control, arguing that local control is better, and it frees citizens from bureaucratic abuse from an overbearing federal government. If he views the head of a state government as having to ‘bend the knee’ to get federal disaster assistance, Tom Watson apparently agrees.

What a difference a couple seconds makes in a deceptively captioned photo, eh?
Isn’t this called misinformation or something?
— HOODIE RETRIEVAL SERVICE GLOCKTOR WHO (@NorCalRiverRat) October 2, 2022
‘Misinformation’ is primarily information that is bad for liberals. Tom’s tweet is ‘fighting to save our democracy’ or something.

LOL.
As a Florida resident, I couldn't be more proud of my governor.
Anyone who would post an old photo to try and score political points in the midst of a natural disaster is a garbage human.
— Mave McGillicuty (@MMcgillicuty) October 2, 2022
So far, it appears DeSantis has done a tremendous job both planning for and coordinating the aftermath of the hurricane. The Left is well aware of this, hence the need to pretend Joe Biden is somehow the one doing the heavy lifting by releasing federal funds – which is typical in these situations.
LOL, Tom taking the knee here in the comments. 🤣
— MEME THE LEFT (@memetheleft) October 2, 2022
He really didn’t think this one through, did he?
Yes, setting politics aside and meeting with a political adversary so people struggling in the aftermath of a natural disaster can get relief as quickly as possible is exactly like bending the knee… 🙄 https://t.co/X7hKPe0IPA
— G (@justthatG_uy) October 2, 2022
Exactly. Even if this had been a photo related to the Hurricane Ian relief effort, isn’t this exactly what we want our leaders to do? Nope, some on the Left want to be sure GOP politicians are shamed over politics when their constituents are suffering.

Oh I see now — you hit the TWEET button after conjuring up this idiocy. That was where you went astray. https://t.co/WKjVp37MnZ

It’s okay to read your tweet, read it again, and maybe just one more time … before deleting it.

They ‘never let a serious crisis go to waste’.
This is not from the current disaster.
Adults work with others even if they do not agree with them. It is called, "being professional".
DeSantis is an adult. He will be working with whoever he needs to in order to protect Floridians.
Now is not the time for petty politics. https://t.co/YvllqJ6GXn

Well said.
What could it possibly be like to be some of these people. It's like trying to imagine the experience of having gills or using echolocation. https://t.co/UygLnLeH1k
— Foster (@foster_type) October 2, 2022
We would like to be able to echolocate, if we’re being honest.
Don’t forget the more important point: Tom Watson thinks that you should have to pledge loyalty to Joe Biden in order to receive hurricane aid.
Sorry, Tom. That’s not how this works.
This isn’t a fascist dictatorship. https://t.co/UxOe6nn7v9

It does seem rather fascist-y.
