As gas prices are on the rise and whispers of shortages spread across the nation, the state of Washington is potentially preparing for per gallon prices to soar into double digit territory.
BREAKING: Washington gas stations run out of gas, add extra digit in anticipation of $10 dollar priceshttps://t.co/gTfWZ8c2J5

As stated in the Post Millennial article, it was just one gas station that made room for the additional digit in the price per gallon. But it does get people thinking. The threat of shortages brings up memories of the 1970’s gas crisis.

The average gas price sky rocketed to a whopping $1.19 since by 1980 as a result of the crisis.
I remember when gas stations taped a 1 next to the price of a gallon of gas in anticipation of prices going over a buck a gallon. I’m not that old either (56)

Evidence of an actual shortage is not readily available. A Google search will lead those inquiring to a statement from February that there is no US gas shortage, ‘ The U.S. has plenty of oil in its reserves, 580 million barrels of crude oil to be exact.’ Others claim rising fuel prices have nothing to do with shortages, it’s those evil oil companies again, you see.

lying again. There is no shortage
The root of the problem is that consumers are being gouged. I would think you would be outraged by that.
The US is producing enough. There is no 'lack of supply'. Your tacit approval of us getting gouged is terrible.https://t.co/oPkhp7i4qw

You don’t have to be fully invested in doom and gloom to wonder what the truth is. There are an awful lot of things going on that are not actually going on, depending on who you ask.
There is no baby formula shortage.
There is no looming food shortage.
There is no oil and gas crisis.
There are no purposed supply chain issues.
There is no housing crisis.
All inflation is transitory.

Curiously, gas prices continue to rise despite our best efforts to identify the cause and assign appropriate blame. No one can argue that we aren’t seeing record high gas prices at the pump.

Well almost no one.
Why are gas prices so high?! We do not get oil from Russia nor Ukraine. We need to hurt the companies who raised the prices. Stop driving for a week and take mass transportation and/or car pool.https://t.co/MwOOQG0dja
