As we saw with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's brag about bringing the deficit to "zero," there are the parts they talk about, and then there's what they don't mention. In the case of Mamdani, the "quiet parts" were in the form of a state government bailout and some accounting games with the city's pension payments.
In the NYC/Mamdani story, bailouts are GOOD, but only this time.

I ran across another similar example, except this one is from Gavin Newsom's California and is about education.
The education system in Cali is at a record high—not in test scores, but in spending per student, according to the giddy governor:
Student funding in California is now a RECORD HIGH! Since Governor Newsom took office, it’s increased 66%— reaching $28,282 per student as the state makes historic investments in public education. pic.twitter.com/u1RJVYZmrf

Yeah, they've also spent a fortune on high speed rail, which doesn't matter if there's nothing to show for it. The "accomplishment" part for lefties like Newsom is the spending (which often ends up in only certain hands).
Newsom is thrilled about education funding being at a "RECORD HIGH," but what about the results?
This is exactly the wrong metric. Spending says nothing about quality or effectiveness. There's a reason Newsom doesn't share test result performance. https://t.co/37H9Uve5ou

Yes indeed, the test results are a different story.
"In California, only 28% of Black fourth graders read at or above basic level, for instance, compared to 52% in Mississippi" https://t.co/enyN64HDt2

But a ton of money is being spent, so Gavin's thrilled.
And yet, less than 50% of your students are proficient in reading and less than 40% ar proficient in math. Per an @latimes article dated yesterday.https://t.co/0ATjBiiVKi pic.twitter.com/FzzqQ3Jchf

“We are now spending more taxpayer money than ever to produce bottom-half of the country results!”

Just beyond parody. https://t.co/9DJ5DT7lfU
It's not the brag that Newsom thinks it is, but again, the entire goal of Democrats is to shovel taxpayer dollars to certain people and entities. Actual results are far from the primary concern.
