Over the course of the first year of Donald Trump's second term in office (and even before), many Democrats have made some of their beliefs abundantly clear:
--No human being is illegal
--Illegal entry is just fine because people are seeking shelter and safety
--Most of us are living on stolen land
--Vehicle theft is the fault of automakers for not making cars harder to steal.
Add it all up and that's why the following story caught my attention
It starts with this:
Thief who swiped Oakland mayor's $75K car was 'squatting' in City Hall for four days: source https://t.co/8MiBjYZyll pic.twitter.com/ntsTgDqrkn
— New York Post (@nypost) February 19, 2026
This entire story is just a cavalcade of Democrat policies gone the only way they can go: Wrong. There's also a lot of symbolism. I'll start with this:
A source told the Post the thief had been living inside the complex since Friday and managed to stay undetected despite the highly paid ABC Security Services being on site.
The suspect was holed out on the 11th floor of the deserted offices over the Presidents Day weekend, according to the insider.
If they try to charge the squatter with trespassing we need to remind the Democrats that no human being is illegal, especially not on stolen land! But at least their building security was doing as bang-up of a job as Biden's border security:
Last year it was broken into while it sat in a garage behind City Hall and the damage took weeks to repair, City Council President Kevin Jenkins previously said.
He told the San Francisco Chronicle: “We have to tighten up security around City Hall. A few council members have come to me with complaints about their sense of security in and around City Hall.”
Lefty Dems are remiss when it comes to border security? Shocker!
But at least the "no police for thee but fast responses for me" Dem politicians remain as predictable as ever:
He said: “If an Oakland resident reports a stolen car or home burglary, it can take up to three days for OPD officers to respond because of the shortage of officers.
“The mayor and city leadership is practically starving the police department of help. A regular resident can’t get or even dream of that level of service.”
The squatter was also aided by continued COVID-era work policies:
Photos obtained by the Post on Thursday show the office block appearing completely deserted — as multiple staff still work remotely.
One has to question how much "work" actually takes place.
The lifetime public servant former U.S. Representative and the current mayor of Oakland Barbara Lee drove a $75K car. 🤷🏻♀️ https://t.co/FsxzRR8vs5

"Public servants" like this always seem to have access to better stuff many of the rest of us for some reason.
Oakland is a "sanctuary city," but obviously they don't want that to apply to the buildings where Democrat public officials work. Only the "regular" people should be subject to the consequences of the policies they support.
This story was the perfect encapsulation of a Dem-run city and the hypocrisy that comes with it.
