Another budget battle is ongoing, and last month's election showed that, among many other things, voters elected Republicans to stop the runaway spending train that is the federal government before it goes off a cliff at full speed with all of us on board.
Current spending levels are simply unsustainable, and threats of taking away unlimited printing and spending has the Democrats more panicked than Hunter Biden the time he lost his dealer's phone number.
At the moment, barring a new bill passing this afternoon, there will be another government shutdown at midnight.
This freaks out the Democrats for two reasons. The most obvious is that they love spending and can't get enough pork into their budgets. Another reason government shutdowns scare them is simple: Ordinary Americans might realize they can live a pretty good life without a bloated government -- in many or most cases an even better and freer life. This scares the s**t out of Democrats.
They combat this of course by not paying certain people during shutdowns to make Americans empathetic and want the government to open back up so those people are paid. We hear it every time: "If the government shuts down the troops don't get paid!"
But they sure as hell will still be able to find the money to pay for other things:

Ever notice that a government shutdown never shuts down their ability to take taxes out of our paychecks?

Deciding not to pay the troops is a choice. The federal government continues to take in tax revenue. They choose ways to make the public feel the negative effects (like closing national parks when Obama was president).
John Stossel has a good video related to all this. Proponents of Big Government fear shutdowns because people might realize they don't need so much Big Government in their lives:
Panic! Government will shut down if Congress doesn't pass a funding bill!

That's how most media cover it.
But during previous shut downs, what terrible things happened? None!
Life went on. Government demonstrated how needless most of it is.
I made this video about that: pic.twitter.com/NIPYeO2r6X
This is the Left's biggest concern about Trump's upcoming four years, and DOGE doing its thing. They're going to fight back hard, but hopefully enough people see through the usual tricks.
Sorry, we aren’t being taken hostage like this anymore.

If you want child cancer research, pass a bill for it. https://t.co/igPlUESn29
Democrats are the ones using that kind of funding as a pawn to pass their real wish list, then they accuse Republicans of playing games with peoples' lives. It's projection, and par for their shameless course.
To suggest standalone bills to Democrats gets the same reaction as if you were to blaspheme their climate change gods. "Yikes" incoming:

I want somebody to ask this human mosquito who she thinks the president was for the last four years.

Just know that the more these Democrats are panicking, the better the news is for the future of the country. Stay the course!
