Sen. Rand Paul explains why he's referred Dr. Fauci to the DOJ (again)

This week we got the news that the Biden administration is going to cut off funding for the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

You might have asked yourself, "wait, we were still giving them money?"

Because the real world is now beyond parody, the answer to that is "yes":

The Biden administration has taken steps to permanently block China's Wuhan Institute of Virology from receiving funding from the U.S. government after a review found the facility non-compliant with federal regulations.

According to a Tuesday report from Bloomberg, the United States notified the institute of the decision to suspend funding on Monday and reportedly outlined in a memo plans to block the institute from receiving any potential future support.

"Top Men" are in charge!

But I seem to recall a certain doctor of notoriety assuring everybody that the U.S. wasn't funding the Wuhan lab, and so do many others.

Meanwhile, Sen. Rand Paul has again noticed that Dr. Fauci lied under oath:

No doubt AG Merrick Garland will put Sen. Paul's letter in a "safe" place until it's time to keep doing nothing about it.

This is from Paul's letter to Garland

In light of new information, I write to reiterate my previous request for the United States Department of Justice to open an investigation into testimony made to the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions by Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), on May 11, 2021.

As one of the components of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), NIAID funds many scientific projects both in the U.S. and elsewhere. In response to my questioning at the May 11, 2021 hearing, Dr. Fauci testified that “the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-offunction research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”1 Just two months later, in a separate hearing where Dr. Fauci was also under oath, I warned him of the criminal implications of lying to Congress and gave him an opportunity to retract his previous statements. He instead doubled down and stated that he had “never lied before the Congress” and “d[id] not retract that statement.”

It's even more maddening knowing that Fauci is now comfortably retired with a cushy taxpayer-funded pension. But Sen. Paul is to be commended for staying on this and seeking accountability.

The Republicans need to take the White House and Senate in next year's elections so there can be some accountability.
