Earlier this month, on the 4th of July, my wife and I went and saw "Sound of Freedom" at the theater.
It was a 10 a.m. show and I hadn't had movie theater popcorn for breakfast in a few years.
This was my mini-review at the time:
We just saw #TheSoundOfFreedom and felt wrung out at the end but didn’t want to leave. Horrific subject matter that is ultimately inspiring and a fantastic and important film. Make sure to stay through the credits. https://t.co/x22xmG5PCu

The film has not passed the $50 million mark at the box office:
"Sound of Freedom" crossed the $50 million mark at the U.S. box office on Wednesday, according to Deadline.
The independent action thriller, produced by Angel Studios and starring Jim Caviezel, has become a surprise summer hit, raking in $53.4 million against a $14.5 million budget since its premiere on July 4.

According to Box Office Mojo, "Sound of Freedom" now ranks number 22 on the top 25 highest-grossing movies of 2023 to date.
The film has surpassed a number of major studio releases on the list including Sony Pictures Entertainment's "No Hard Feelings," Paramount's "80 For Brady," Universal's "Knock at the Cabin" and Warner Bros.' "Magic Mike's Last Dance."
Now, you'd think that addressing and ending child trafficking would be one of those rare issues that we can all agree on, but as we've come to find out that's not the case.

Not unlike when the Right pointed out the Left's plans to ban gas stoves and the lib media reported it as Republicans turning the issue into a "culture war," something similar is happening in regards to a movie about child trafficking.
Here's one such take from Vox, that reported the movie shoved the issue of child trafficking into the "culture war battleground":
The right-wing child trafficking movie taking over theaters and creating its own conspiracy theories https://t.co/A6tURzzVDl

Holy cow... file that under "D" for "diminishing the problem of child trafficking to own the cons."
And who turned this movie into a “culture war battleground”? Leftists did when they became enraged that a movie with the central message of “child sex trafficking must be eradicated” made it into theaters. They took the movie as a personal insult. Why is that? pic.twitter.com/DYWskjtBMk

Hey, Republicans are against child trafficking and raising awareness through a movie so naturally there are those on the Left who are going to side with... guess who.
This seriously has to be one of the worst articles i’ve ever read. “Sound of Freedom is ultimately a form of extremist propaganda” The only propaganda is articles like this. The title speaks for itself. @voxdotcom manages to get worse every day, and it’s honestly impressive. https://t.co/UI083gqgZO

I expected nothing less from Vox, but that outlet isn't alone in doing yeoman's work in helping to explain why and how this problem continues to exist. Here's another example.
Enjoy the weekend, all, and if you haven't seen "Sound of Freedom" I recommend it -- as I also recommend having movie theater popcorn for breakfast.
