We've heard it for months or more: "Republicans are banning books!"
By "banning books" the Democrats making that accusation don't go into more detail, but the media are, to a large degree, happy to help push that narrative. Here's one such example from Axios last month:
States fight to save books from growing number of bans across U.S. https://t.co/FVZAwlIvDQ

However, what they don't say Republicans are opposing is essentially pornography and other inappropriate sexual content in school libraries. Those same books can still be purchased elsewhere, meaning they're not "banned," and sometimes a Democrat will unwittingly help point that out.
Today's "case-in-point" is Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom:
Book bans are at a record high -- there have been over 1,200 challenges in the last year, nearly double the (then-record) total from 2021.

Couldn’t leave Boise without dropping by this incredible bookstore. The owners of Rediscovered Books are doing everything they can to push… pic.twitter.com/LYWItT1EjQ
Thanks, governor! That's super helpful -- just not in the way you think:

So you're telling us you can buy "banned" books at the book store?

Wow, the Republicans are leading the most ineffective "book ban" of all time!
Where the hell are books being banned?

Adults can read whatever they want! 😂
Dems never let reality get in the way of shamelessly continuing pushing their preferred narrative (with help from the media).
These books are so harshly banned they're available at every book store! True fascism on display

You banned outdoor skate parks and watching sunsets at state beaches. Why this push for sharing pornography with minors?

I've always thought that the Left's "book ban" intolerance should be put to the test by placing copies of books written by Trump, DeSantis, etc. on the shelves of middle school libraries.
The people behind these “bans” of books you can walk into a store and buy are about as effective as the “vote suppressors” whose voter suppression resulted in record high turnout.

Or maybe performative empty suits like Gavin Newsom are just full of crap. https://t.co/z9caNjafLa
I know this is hard to understand, but curation is not banning.

If a book is being banned, then it's not in stores for parents to buy. Clearly, he can buy any book he wants for his children there. https://t.co/eQBbGVNKr1
Are there any reporters out there who would care to ask Newsom to define "banned"? He's full of more BS than a cattle farm pasture.
