I’ll set the stage with a reminder about just how excited Americans are for President Biden to run for reelection:
Do you think Joe Biden should…
Run for president 26%
Not run for president 70%Do you think Donald Trump should…
Run for president 35%
Not run for president 60%— Steve Kornacki (@SteveKornacki) April 23, 2023
Seventy percent of Americans don’t want Biden to run again (more than half of Democrats), and that’s from an NBC poll so you know the actual number is likely higher.
With that in mind, here’s a take from MSNBC’s Maddow Blog about what gives Biden a good chance of winning in November of next year:
By most measures, if the 2024 race comes down to the “are you better off” question, then Biden's chances are pretty good. (via MaddowBlog) https://t.co/UvGWJXd1ig

Does anybody really think the average Americans’ answer to the “are you better off” question is YES?
As I noted on Twitter, no, people are not “better off” and neither are their retirement accounts.

Even the White House knows the answer to the “better off” question because they didn’t even have Biden do a live event to launch his reelection campaign because they know he’d stumble over himself or the turnout would be embarrassingly low because of all the “Building Back Better.”
As a former Dem I have to ask…
ARE THESE FOLKS ON DRUGS?!
We have had crisis after crisis, failure after failure. We are clearly worse off now than ever before! #inflation #recordgasprices #immigrationcrisis #afghanistanwithdrawel #outofcontrolspending https://t.co/ZttF0wz3Yb

By any objective measure regular Americans are not “better off” under Biden. Also notice that I use the term “regular Americans” because there are people benefitting greatly from some of the shams under this administration, but they are all plugged in politically.

Lmao. How are people better off?
Inflation, mortgage rates, gas prices, taxes, public school failures, Ukraine war getting worse, crime through the roof, southern border, people’s 401Ks are getting crushed, etc.

I don't think we make it to a "2024".

And could Biden’s “Finish the Job” campaign theme sound more frighteningly dystopian?
Team Biden knows people aren’t better off which is why they’re basically going to rely on another basement strategy:
President Biden “has no immediate plans to barnstorm key states with large rallies. He will instead try to burnish his record, and hope Republican infighting continues.” https://t.co/SjD5iWTaxK
— Josh Kraushaar (@JoshKraushaar) April 26, 2023
The economy’s so great the White House is afraid to have Biden go try and brag about it. Also they know Biden couldn’t hold “large rallies” without paying people to show up.
